Brian Dow Fitness Club
Each muscle in your body has its own unique strength curve, which is the amount of force it can create as it moves through its working range. This changing strength capability is explained by two factors: the internal arrangement of muscle fibers and the way the muscles attach to / insert on its target bone.
These strength curves can be very different, even in muscles that appear to do related things. For example, the four quadriceps muscles extend (kick out) your lower leg, and have a strength curve that looks like an inverted letter U. In contrast, the three hamstrings muscles flex (pull back) your lower leg, but have a strength curve that starts high and gets progressively weaker as you flex.
The ideal strength training device should be able to change the effective resistance on the muscle in the same way that the muscle changes. If the muscle gets stronger then weaker as it contracts, the resistance should get heavier then lighter. If the muscles get progressively weaker as it contracts, the resistance should get progressively smaller.
Build Muscle Mass with Nautilus Equipment
What our ideal device is trying to do is keep the muscle working at high intensity through its full range of motion. Thanks to the use of an ingenious, off-round pulley called a cam, Nautilus can do that. One set of 12 repetitions at high intensity is all you need. Studies show the only difference between one set or three sets of Nautilus is 2%.
Benefits of Strength Training
Incorporating elements of strength training to your workout can freshen up your routine and complement your Nautilus Diet Plan, while also offering many health and fitness benefits, such as:
- Reduced resting blood pressure
- Reduced risk of type II diabetes
- Increased body density
- Increased calorie burn
- Reduced arthritic pain
- Reduced cholesterol
- Reduced body fat
